read between the lines
memories i've got like a horrible stuck nose ever since i downed a few cups of cold longan juice at the dinner party earlier and i can't get rid of it. arghh...i know sleep might help, but i wasn't intending to sleep. still stalling for time as usual.i want to say something. actually, a few things about something. but i know i need to sleep soon so i'll try to simplify it, try to. i was surfing through a few blogs again, some random and some not-so-random, some unknown and some known, and i realised that, i have a lot of memories of being in good company at various camps / gatherings / whatever you call them. (i know quite a few people who snort at the word "camp" because they think it should be best left for outdoor jungle stay-ins.) and these memories, when conjured up in my mind, are beautiful to behold, like they're frozen in time or something. impossible to replicate, yet meaningful enough to be remembered. and sadly some of these memories are mere remnants of faded dreams and the good old past... some of these memories easily come to mind, especially if they're particularly unforgettable ones, but some of these come up along the way as i find something familiar like a blog, a person or an event to remind me. and suddenly i realise that i have reluctantly lost contact with quite a few of the people i've shared those memories with, which is, quite sad when you really think about it. however, regardless of whether i remain in contact with these people or not, what that they can never take away are the memories i have of them, which will be forever etched in my mind (or at least for quite a few long years). it has been a privilege to have them leave footprints in my heart that waves of years can never wash away. The Way We Were by BARBRA STREISAND Memories Like the corners of my mind Misty watercolor memories Of the way we were Scattered pictures Of the smiles we left behind Smiles we gave to one another For the way we were Can it be that it was all so simple then Or has time rewritten every line If we had the chance to do it all again Tell me - would we? could we? Memories May be beautiful and yet What’s too painful to remember We simply choose to forget So it is the laughter We will remember Whenever we remember The way we were So it is the laughter We will remember Whenever we remember The way we were |
