read between the lines
under construction i recall a brief but thought-provoking part of my conversation with a lecturer when we were wrapping up. i was telling said lecturer about how i hate going home because my family's so hard to face and how the renovation/construction is just making it hell for us, and how it doesn't help that my own personal life is upside down and how that's like a double blow for me, etc.said lecturer turned to me, and matter-of-factly, said, "look at it this way. maybe your life is like the construction, where some things have to be torn down before they can be rebuilt into something better." the words in italic were said lecturer's words, verbatim. i know, because ever since that day those words have never left me. by the way, said lecturer is a christian too so the context in which said lecturer mentioned it was also the biblical context in which i was looking at it in. and i do believe it was god speaking to me through this human channel of His. though this happened some time ago, it stuck in my mind, reappearing here and there in the frays of time. and tonight i thought of it. |
