read between the lines
i wanna stay on fire i jus bought a new CD today....rite after listening to the band perform "live". n i found their songs today so appropriate...n the album i bought from them, it's so voicing out what i'm not saying, it's like a loudspeaker for my silence....i found these lyrics (from one of their songs) especially relevant for my current situation:FLAME by Parousia I've been in this dark and lonely place for so long The cold, it surrounds me I try to be strong This shadow is haven, and it's here I'll hide But I'm losing the fire that once burned inside Part of me just wants to be all alone Completely isolated in my world But my dreams have now faded I must start anew So longing to flourish, I now turn to You Flame, flame burn brighter Don't go out (3X)... I want to stay on fire Flame, flame burn brighter Don't go out (3X)... Thinking my flame self-sustaining I've tried to survive on my own But now I quench myself to gain You I risk myself to find You Standing on my own two feet I fall down My own shadow's incomplete Barren ground Your shadow invites me with its glow of light Your fire consumes me as I step inside Flame, flame burn brighter Don't go out (3X)... I want to stay on fire Flame, flame burn brighter Don't go out (3X)... Thinking my flame self-sustaining I've tried to survive on my own But now I quench myself to gain You I risk myself to find You [the highlighted bit is the one i feel is rite at the top of the thoughts i'm not voicing out] btw, at first i was a little confused with the "I quench myself to gain You" part....cos i was thinking of the verse where jesus says He will quench my thirst, or sth like that....but after a few seconds i realised that in this context it means "i quench my own flame to gain You", as in "i lose my life to find You", which is the bit in the four gospels n the main theme of track no. 2 from !HERO that has been screaming out at me from the pages for quite some time already. which makes this song even more relevant to me rite now. n i like songs i can relate to...cos duh, by nature, anything that has to do with us we find "interesting". n these relevant songs...i feel connected to them n it makes me more likely to sing them, or blast them into my eardrums. |
