read between the lines
walking after you i can't get enough of walking after you by the foo fighters..it's so unlike them in the sense that it's a softer, slower song. but the drums...fantass rolling. you hear it at the beginning and it rolls on until the end. not like super duper rolls, but little-drummer-boy ones, really good on the ears. i was captivated by that song the first time i heard it at the end of the x-files movie, and i'd been wanting to get it ever since. and i finally have.decided to post it up here (link). the download will be available for 7 days from now or a max limit of downloads, so don't wait too long. it's not just the drums and the way the accoustics all fit in nicely that's good about this. the lyrics themselves...the chorus is encouraging if it's you're looking for something to play over and over. and ben folds five is another real piece of work. before jamie cullum...there was ben folds. selfless, cold and composed sounds the most jamie cullum-ish. it's swing with the black-and-whites running everywhere. of course his best known piano work has to be brick, which, surprisingly, is a story about him and his girlfriend going through an abortion, yet has lyrics so vague you wouldn't guess at first glance. but the piano melody...is haunting. sad as the song is, i can't help but play it. |
